A 7-foot tall Hellhound skeleton was recently found near an ancient monastery

Sometimes legendary characters can be proven to be true. Such is the case in today’s post, as researchers uncovered what appears to be a legendary 16th-century hellhound using the most advanced technologies available.

The cruel deaths of a monstrous hellhound known as the Balck Shuck, whose name is said to derive from an Old English term meaning “black monster”, terrified the people of the British Isles in the 16th century.

After 500 years, archaeologists found the bones under the ruins of Leiston Abbey in Suffolk. A veterinarian examined the dog’s skeleton and estimated its weight to be around 200 pounds and its length to be at least 7 feet.

Local mythology says that the monster first appeared in a storm in the Holy Trinity in 1577. The villagers sought refuge inside the church, but the wooden doors could not resist the power of the beast.

After killing a child and a man, the beast fled. Today, you can still see their claw marks on the church door.
