It’s one thing for astronauts to go to the moon on space missions for a while. Another utopia where they continue to live on the moon. So a NASA astronomer explains why humans will never live on the surface of the moon.
It is true that within the space agencies there are ideas to colonize satellites, planets and extend humanity throughout the universe. It might sound like a sci-fi playbook, but the reality is that many scientists have tracked down the idea, not just the fact that it’s been passed down through the generations.
Cologne? Spacial base? futuristic city? There are several possibilities to imagine what permanent human life on the moon would be like, but for NASA astronaut Stan Love, the idea of living on our natural satellite is like living in Antarctica, where only the research base is located.
The reason explained by the astronaut
In a report published on the Computer Hoy website, Love quoted The Sun as saying that while some people would work on the moon, they would not settle there permanently, especially with distant family members.
“I think they’re going to live on the moon and set up a base there. But I don’t think they’re going to move. My example is Antarctica. We’ve had people in Antarctica since 1957, and that was about 60 years ago, and no one has They will move there with their families,” said the astronaut.
Stan Love believes that any future lunar base will look more like a research station than a city: “It will be like an Antarctic research station. Antarctica is a good analogy for the moon, which is used for science.”
Despite this expert theory, NASA thinks the opposite. NASA has donated more than $57 million to 3D printing company Icon to develop a plan to build infrastructure on the lunar surface.
